14 year old Lubie "Chuck" Geter, Jr. (130lbs, DOB 30 June 1966) lived at 129 Dahlgren Street SE with his parents Annie/Assie/Essie? Geter (dry cleaning) & Lubie Geter, Sr. (vet admin hospital chef), brother Frankie Jordan, and sisters Marian, Pauline, Macheely and Betty. His grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. Lucious Godfrey, Mr. Oliver Price, and Mr. and Mrs I. V. Hood
Geter attended JC Murphy High and carried groceries and worked at National Pride car wash on the 1500 block of Memorial, where he obtained air fresheners to sell. He also spent time at Anne's Snack Shop.

Lubie Geter was last seen at the Stewart-Lakewood Shopping Center on GA-6, selling "Zep Gel" car deodorizers outside "Big Star Food Store," after having been left there by his brother. He had been seen getting into a red pickup, a white pickup, then a white and black Cutlass. A woman later testified that she saw him getting into a car with Wayne Williams in front of the Sears at the mall. He was wearing a purple coat, a green shirt, blue jeans and brown loafers. 1430 Saturday 03 January 1981 Calls from a man calling himself the killer were traced to Stewart Avenue payphones near here. |
Lubie Geter's body was found by a dog who was seen by land owner destroying rabbit traps in a wooded side of Vandiver Road, near Enon Rd.
The body was missing all his clothes except white jockey shorts. His blue Levi's & brown belt were found 3/4 mile away in a brown bag three feet deep in a creek. His blue shirt and shoes were found 300 yards away. The body was mutilated by animals. His cause of death was asphyxiation by manual strangulation. 05 February 1981 The state called Geter's a "pattern case" in the conviction of Williams. The funeral was held Monday, Feb. 9, 1981 at 1 p.m. at Second Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 230 Stevall St, S.E., with Rev. G.W. Baker officiating. He was buried at the Lincoln Cemetery. The cortege was noon, and the visitation was 7-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8 at Meadows Mortuary, Inc., 419 Flat Shoals Ave. S.E., Atlanta 522-7478. |
